- Lead end-to-end delivery of primary HV plant and MV design packages, from concept through to construction, including single-line diagrams, layouts, and equipment specification
- Provide technical governance by reviewing, approving, and signing off internal and third-party designs for accuracy, compliance, and constructability
- Act as the discipline lead for Primary Plant and MV engineering, mentoring engineers and coordinating with Protection & Control, Civil, Cable, and Project Delivery teams
- Manage interfaces between HV primary, HV secondary (P&C), and MV systems, ensuring design consistency and integrationInterface with clients and stakeholders, representing the contractor as the subject matter expert in primary plant designSupport procurement activities, including preparation of technical specifications, evaluation of supplier bids, and review of vendor documentation and drawingsCoordinate with consortium partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and compliant design delivery
- Travel to project sites, supplier facilities, and client or partner offices as required
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in HV/MV engineering within transmission/substation environments
- Strong UK experience in primary substation design (132kV–400kV, AIS/GIS) and MV systems (11kV–33kV), including knowledge of National Grid and Scottish Power standards
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design coordination, manage multiple workstreams, and mentor engineersStrong technical expertise in primary plant design, with high attention to detail and ability to deliver under time constraints
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging clients and project partners
