We are currently seeking a Mechanical Site Engineer to join our UK team within the Thermal Power & HVDC Division of Metlen Energy & Metals, supporting the construction of the Progress Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) Power Plant at Eye Airfield, Suffolk, United Kingdom.
Your role will encompass:
- Overseeing mechanical construction activities on-site, ensuring alignment with project specifications, drawings, and applicable standards
- Coordinating with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to support planning and execution of mechanical installations
- Monitoring installation activities for major mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, piping systems, HVAC, and auxiliary systems
- Conducting site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards
- Identifying and resolving mechanical issues during construction to support safe and timely delivery
- Supporting construction and commissioning preparation activities through coordination with engineering and commissioning teams
- Maintaining accurate records of mechanical works performed on-site, including progress tracking and reporting
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture across all site activities
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSc advantageous)
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical erection or installation works within power generation or heavy industrial projects (e.g. OCGT/CCGT, refineries, power plants, or similar)
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical construction drawings and specifications
- Experience working in site-based construction environments with multiple subcontractors
- Fluent English language skills
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, multicultural project teams
