We are currently looking for a Project Cost Control Supervisor to join our Grid & Digital Solutions department as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen Energy & Metals, based in Newcastle.
Your role will encompass:
- Develop and implement the project cost management strategy aligned with overall Project Controls objectives
- Lead all cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control activities across the project lifecycle
- Monitor project expenditures and commitments, ensuring alignment with approved budgets
- Identify cost deviations, assess impacts, and support the development of recovery and mitigation plans
- Prepare and present cost reports, forecasts, and variance analysis to Project and Senior Management
- Work closely with Project Planners to ensure alignment between cost and schedule performance (earned value approach)
- Establish and manage cost tracking systems, including progress measurement and reporting frameworks
- Support contract administration and claims management by providing cost-related analysis and documentation
- Ensure accurate cost allocation, financial tracking, and compliance with internal financial procedures
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or Project Management
- Master’s degree in a relevant field will be considered an asset
- Professional certification in Cost Management / Project Controls is a strong advantage
- Strong experience in project cost control within large-scale energy or infrastructure projects
- Excellent knowledge of cost management tools and financial reporting practices
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Experience with Primavera (cost & progress integration) will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of contract and claims management principles
- Excellent command of the English language
