About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical & Structural Engineer to join our team.
Location: Melbourne CBD
Contract Type: Full time, permanent
Reporting to the Senior Civil Engineer, you will be a valuable member of the team responsible for providing technical expertise in the safe, compliant and efficient planning, design, review, and delivery of structural and geotechnical aspects of Metlen's large-scale solar farm projects.
As a Geotechnical & Structural Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
Structural & Geotechnical Engineering
- Review geotechnical data, structural designs, and engineering deliverables.
- Provide foundation, earthworks, and site development recommendations.
- Identify risks and support optimisation of structural and geotechnical solutions.
Construction & Site Support
- Provide technical support for foundations, piling, earthworks, and construction activities.
- Resolve site issues, review methodologies, and verify compliance through inspections.
Design Coordination
- Coordinate with project teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Support design reviews, value engineering, and interface management.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, quality documentation, and reporting.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Promote safe engineering practices and environmental compliance.
- Participate in risk assessments, site inspections, and incident investigations.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and review technical reports, assessments, and project documentation.
- Maintain records and provide technical recommendations to stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of structural and geotechnical engineering, including foundations, piling, earthworks, and solar projects.
- Ability to review designs, assess site conditions, and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Australian/New Zealand solar project regulations and industry standards.
- Able to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively, and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
