We are currently looking for a Head of Legal – APAC to join our Legal Team, based in Singapore or Australia, and play a key role in supporting and enabling the continued growth of Metlen’s renewable energy activities across the APAC region.
In this senior leadership role, you will act as the primary legal advisor to the business in APAC, providing high-quality, commercially focused legal guidance across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects. You will partner closely with senior stakeholders across Development, EPC, Finance, Asset Management, and Operations, ensuring that legal frameworks effectively support project delivery, risk management, and strategic growth.
You will also lead and develop the APAC Legal & Contracts team, contributing to the evolution of legal governance, policies, and best practices while ensuring strong alignment with the global Legal function.
Your role will encompass:

Regional Legal Leadership: Act as the lead legal advisor for Metlen’s renewable energy activities across APAC, leading and developing the regional Legal & Contracts team while ensuring alignment with the global Legal function.

Project & Commercial Contracting: Lead legal support for EPC and O&M contract negotiations and manage the drafting and negotiation of key project and commercial agreements, including procurement contracts, subcontracts, SPAs, DSAs, and other transaction documents.

Project Finance & Transactions: Provide legal support for project financing activities, acquisitions, and divestments, ensuring projects are structured to meet financing and bankability requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Governance, Risk & Compliance: Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across the region, while developing and maintaining legal precedents, governance frameworks, and regional legal policies.

Strategic Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams (Development, EPC, Finance, Asset Management, O&M) and engage with international stakeholders including financiers, authorities, and Metlen headquarters.
What you bring to the role:

Legal Qualification & Experience: Qualified lawyer with a valid practicing certificate and 8+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally combining top-tier private practice and in-house exposure.

Technical Legal Expertise: Strong experience in EPC and O&M contracts, project and commercial agreements, project finance transactions, M&A and SPAs, preferably within the infrastructure or renewable energy sectors.

Leadership & Team Development: Experience leading or mentoring legal or contracts teams in complex project environments.

Commercial & Strategic Mindset: Ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.

Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, comfortable working in international, cross-functional environments; fluency in English required.
