Job Description: 

We are currently looking for a Medic to join our EGL1 Contracts & Commercial department as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen Energy & Metals, based in Murton, County Durham.

Your role will encompass:

  • Provide immediate on-site medical response and first aid support during construction and commissioning activities.

  • Assess medical emergencies and report findings to the Emergency Response Controller.

  • Lead the on-site medical response until external emergency services arrive.

  • Support the Emergency Response Team during evacuations, area sweeps and other emergency activities.

  • Coordinate with trained medical personnel, rescue teams and external emergency services during incidents.

  • Maintain first aid kits, AEDs, emergency medical supplies and rescue equipment in serviceable condition.

  • Administer emergency first aid for burns, chemical exposure, trauma injuries and other site-related incidents.

  • Triage patients during major incidents and support prioritised care based on severity.

  • Conduct daily site walks and weekly health inspections to identify health-related hazards.

  • Record and submit health-related KPI data, incident reports, treatments and drug and alcohol testing records.

  • Promote workforce wellbeing through an open-door approach, briefings, toolbox talks and health-related training.

  • Ensure all medical records are completed accurately and secured in line with GDPR requirements.

What you bring to the role:

  • Hold an HCPC Paramedic registration with no ongoing/open investigations or restrictions on practice, or an NMC RGN registration with trauma-based experience and no restrictions to practice.

  • Hold a valid CSCS/EMSS card.

  • Bring more than 2 years’ post-qualification experience in an emergency trauma or medical response role.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of trauma care, medical conditions, minor injuries and emergency response.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with emergency teams, site personnel and external services.

  • Operate strictly within clinical competency and in line with NMC / HCPC codes of conduct.

  • Use Microsoft Office and digital health reporting systems effectively.

  • Show a proactive approach to occupational health, prevention, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

  • Bring construction, heavy civil project or HSE experience, ideally supported by NEBOSH Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
