As our UK business continues to grow, we are expanding our Independent Connection Provider (ICP) capabilities and are looking for experienced professionals to join us at an exciting stage of our development.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Tendering Engineer to join our growing ICP business and take ownership of the tendering and estimation process for our Core Connections pipeline.

Working across single MV/EHV grid connection projects, typically ranging from 33kV to 132kV and occasionally up to 400kV, you will manage tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.

This is a highly autonomous role, suited to an experienced tendering or estimating professional who can operate independently and bring strong ICP/DNO knowledge to a growing function.

You will work closely with the Senior Tenders & Contracts Manager – Grid, Senior Quantity Surveyor, supply chain partners, developers, clients and DNO/TSO stakeholders to develop accurate, competitive and deliverable bids.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the end-to-end tendering process for MV/EHV grid connection projects, reviewing specifications, drawings, Connection Offers and contract documentation.
• Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for HV/MV connection works, incorporating equipment, civils and appropriate risk allowances.
• Prepare bid pricing using estimating software such as Simpro or equivalent.
• Engage with subcontractors and equipment suppliers, analyse quotations and negotiate competitive commercial terms.
• Lead tendering activity for Strategic Infrastructure Framework (SIF) opportunities where required.
• Review and assess DNO/TSO Connection Offers, Schedules of Work and Technical Appendices.
• Liaise directly with developers, clients and consultants to ensure tender submissions align with project requirements and delivery capability.
• Manage tender clarifications, participate in tender launch events and support post-tender negotiations.
• Prepare comprehensive handover documentation for successful tenders.
• Provide cost reporting, dashboards and forecasts to support tender margin and pipeline tracking.
• Contribute to building and developing the future Tendering team, including mentoring new team members as the function grows.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in ICP/DNO tendering or estimating, ideally across 33kV and 132kV projects, with exposure to 400kV advantageous.
• 5+ years’ experience in tendering, estimating or a related commercial/technical role within the electricity grid, connections or utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of contestable and non-contestable works and relevant DNO/ENA technical standards, including G81.
• Experience using estimating software such as Simpro or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contracts.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• The ability to work independently and manage tenders with minimal onboarding support.

Desirable Experience

• Experience tendering for Solar PV or BESS-connected projects.
• Familiarity with DNO/TSO framework pre-qualification processes.
• Experience using CRM systems such as Monday.com or equivalent.
• Previous line management, coaching or mentoring experience.
