Metlen Energy & Metals is strengthening its UK Grid & EPC capability and is seeking a Senior Tenders & Contracts Manager – Grid to lead the commercial strategy, pricing and tendering of electricity grid infrastructure projects.

This is a senior, bid-focused position responsible for delivering competitive, compliant and profitable tenders for grid connections from 11kV to 400kV under the UK ICP, DNO and TSO frameworks. You will play a key role from initial enquiry through contract award and handover to delivery.


What you’ll be doing

You will lead the commercial and technical tendering process, working closely with internal engineering, procurement, project management and legal teams, as well as external stakeholders including clients, developers, DNOs, TSOs and supply chain partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading end-to-end tendering and bid management for grid connection and HV infrastructure projects
  • Developing pricing strategies, CAPEX models and commercial risk positions
  • Reviewing RFQs/RFIs and assessing DNO/TSO grid connection offers (contestable and non-contestable works)
  • Preparing cost estimates, Bills of Quantities and tender submissions
  • Negotiating NEC, FIDIC and bespoke EPC/ICP contracts
  • Acting as the commercial lead through bid clarification, award and handover

This role has clear accountability for margin, risk and contract terms across the Grid scope.


What we’re looking for

We are looking for a commercially driven professional with strong experience in UK electricity grid connections and HV infrastructure tendering.

 

Essential:

  • Significant experience in ICP/EPC commercial or tendering roles in the UK electricity sector
  • Strong knowledge of ICP / IDNO / DNO / TSO frameworks and UK grid connection processes
  • Proven experience pricing multi-disciplinary HV projects (11kV–132kV minimum; exposure up to 400kV desirable)
  • Strong commercial judgement and contract negotiation skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in renewables, BESS, data centres or large industrial connections
  • Understanding of Ofgem and ENA regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with NEC, FIDIC and bespoke EPC/ICP contracts

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience in UK HV infrastructure, utilities or grid connection projects
