We are currently looking for a Storage Asset Optimization Specialist to join our RES & Storage Assets Optimization team in Paiania, Greece, and play a key role in optimizing the market participation and maximizing the value of the company’s Energy Storage Assets across the Greek electricity markets.
In this highly analytical role, you will contribute to the daily market representation of Energy Storage Assets across the Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Balancing Markets, while developing analytical tools, optimization methodologies, and performance insights to support efficient trading and portfolio optimization.
Your role will encompass:
- Energy Storage Market Optimization:
Support the optimal participation of the company’s Energy Storage Assets in the Greek Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Balancing Markets, taking into account market rules, asset constraints, and commercial opportunities. - Optimization Models & Analytical Tools:
Design, develop, and enhance analytical tools, mathematical models, and optimization algorithms to support the efficient daily market representation and trading of Energy Storage Assets. - Market Analysis & Performance Monitoring:
Analyze market dynamics, asset performance, and operational constraints to identify value creation opportunities and portfolio optimization potential. Develop and deliver regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and KPIs to monitor asset performance and support management decision-making. - Trading & Market Participation:
Contribute to the daily execution and monitoring of market activities across relevant electricity market platforms, supporting the timely and accurate submission of bids and the continuous representation of Energy Storage Assets. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with Asset Management, O&M, IT, and other internal stakeholders to ensure that technical constraints, operational requirements, and market conditions are effectively reflected in market participation and optimization strategies. - Tool Enhancement & Automation:
Continuously improve existing analytical and optimization tools and contribute to the development of new methodologies and automated workflows that enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of Energy Storage Asset trading. - Operational Support:
Participate in the department's rotating shift schedule, including weekends and holidays, to support the continuous market representation of Energy Storage Assets across relevant electricity markets.
What you bring to the role:
- Academic Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or another relevant quantitative field. Postgraduate studies in Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, Optimization, or Energy Systems will be considered an advantage. - Energy Market Experience:
2+ years of professional experience in the power market industry. Experience with electricity markets, particularly Day-Ahead, Intraday, and/or Balancing Markets, will be highly valued. Knowledge of the regulatory framework of regional electricity markets will be considered an asset. - Optimization & Quantitative Expertise:
Experience in mathematical modelling, optimization techniques, and quantitative analysis is considered a strong advantage, with the ability to analyze large volumes of data and translate insights into practical market strategies. - Programming & Technical Skills:
Excellent knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages or tools: Python, Java, R, GAMS, or VBA. Experience developing analytical tools, algorithms, or automated workflows will be considered an advantage. - Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong quantitative, mathematical, and analytical skills, combined with a structured problem-solving and decision-making mindset. Ability to perform effectively under time pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. - Collaboration & Communication:
Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with trading, technical, operational, and IT teams. Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
