Job Description: 

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Management Team, based in Athens, Greece.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and evolution of the organization’s next-generation data platform, working within a Microsoft Azure Cloud environment.

You will actively participate across the full project lifecycle — from business requirements gathering and solution design to development, testing, and production rollout — ensuring scalable, reliable, and high-performing data solutions.

 

Your role will encompass:

  • Participate in technical workshops with Data Architects to review and validate proposed data solutions.
  • Design, build, test, and optimize ETL processes in alignment with defined data architectures.
  • Provide technical guidance within the Data Engineering team and mentor junior Data Engineers.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Business Analysts to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Contribute to task estimation and resource planning for new business demands.
  • Maintain and enhance reporting schemas and internal SQL-based data warehouse systems.
  • Define and promote best practices, standards, and optimization techniques to enhance the Corporate Data Warehouse.
  • Monitor and support daily Data Warehouse flows and data pipelines to ensure stability and performance.

 

What you bring to the role:

  • BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
  • +5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts (ETL, staging/target areas, OLAP, dimensional modeling, data marts).
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and Databricks will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Dedicated SQL Pool will be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Big Data concepts and NoSQL databases (e.g., Azure Cosmos DB, MongoDB) will be considered a plus.
  • Experience with source control tools, code repositories, versioning practices, and branch development.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Previous experience in DWH/BI projects, ideally within the energy, metals, or retail sectors, will be considered a plus.
