About the Role 

We are looking for a commercially minded and highly analytical Business Performance Senior Analyst to join our Strategy & Performance team within M Energy Customer Solutions. 

This is a high-impact role that extends beyond traditional reporting, combining business analytics, commercial strategy, and performance management to deliver actionable insights and support executive decision-making across the retail energy business. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to commercial strategy, business planning, forecasting, and portfolio optimization, helping drive profitable growth and commercial excellence. 

You will serve as a trusted business partner to senior leadership, translating complex commercial, financial, and operational data into strategic insights that shape key business decisions and the future direction of the retail energy business.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards and performance reports that provide meaningful insights into commercial, financial, and operational performance. 

  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret key retail energy KPIs, including Gross Margin & EBITDA, Customer Acquisition & Retention, Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), Churn, Cost-to-Serve, and Sales Channel Performance. 

  • Transform complex business data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations that support executive decision-making and commercial performance. 

  • Perform commercial, financial, and market analyses to evaluate pricing strategies, portfolio performance, customer profitability, forecasting assumptions, and wholesale energy market dynamics. 

  • Support Rolling Forecasts, Budgeting, Long-Term Business Planning, and Executive Business Reviews through financial modelling, scenario analysis, and performance evaluation. 

  • Partner with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Energy Management, and IT to identify growth opportunities, improve business performance, and drive commercial excellence. 

  • Drive the standardization of KPI definitions, reporting methodologies, and data governance while promoting automation, advanced analytics, and continuous improvement across reporting processes. 

  • Present analytical findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership in a clear, concise, and impactful manner. 

 

 

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field. 

  • 3+ years of experience in Business Performance, Commercial Analytics, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Business Intelligence, or another business-facing analytical role. 

  • Experience in the retail energy or utilities sector is highly preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of customer lifecycle management, retail pricing, gross margin analysis, forecasting & business planning, financial reporting, and commercial performance management. 

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 

  • Advanced Power BI skills, including DAX and data modelling. 

  • Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to query and manipulate large datasets from relational databases. 

  • Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent presentation, storytelling, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into actionable business insights. 

  • A proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. 

 

 

What Will Make You Stand Out: 

  • Experience in the retail electricity and/or natural gas market. 

  • Experience with forecasting, scenario modelling, or business planning. 

  • Understanding of wholesale electricity markets and energy cost drivers. 

  • Experience with CRM, Billing, SAP/ERP, or other enterprise business systems. 

  • Experience with Python (e.g., Pandas) for analytics, automation, or forecasting. 

  • Exposure to AI-assisted analytics, predictive modelling, or machine learning techniques is considered an advantage.
