Job Description: 

 

We are currently looking for an Algorithmic Power Trader to join our RES & Storage Assets Optimization team in Paiania, Greece, and play a key role in optimizing the market participation and maximizing the value of the company’s RES Assets across the Greek electricity markets. 

In this highly analytical role, you will contribute to the development of algorithmic trading strategies, optimization methodologies, and analytical tools that optimize the performance of asset-backed short-term power trading activities of the Renewable Asset Optimization & Algorithmic Trading team. 

  

Your role will encompass:  

  • Algorithmic Trading & Optimization: Design, develop, back-test and continuously improve automated trading strategies for RES assets, considering market rules, asset constraints, forecasts and risk parameters.
  • Power Market Analysis: Analyze market dynamics, price formation and liquidity to identify trading opportunities and optimize asset performance.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track trading strategies through KPIs, P&L, performance attribution and quantitative analysis, providing insights to support decision-making.
  • Automation & Tools: Develop and enhance automated workflows, analytics and optimization tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability and reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Power Traders, IT, Forecasting, Asset Management and operational teams to ensure effective implementation and real-time optimization.
  • Market Participation: Participate in rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays, supporting continuous market participation and real-time RES asset optimization.

 

What you bring to the role: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Finance or another quantitative discipline; postgraduate studies in a relevant field are an advantage.
  • Energy Market Experience: 2+ years of experience in power trading or quantitative energy roles, with intraday algorithmic trading experience highly valued; exposure to Greek/European power markets is a plus.
  • Quantitative & Optimization Skills: Strong knowledge of mathematical modelling, optimization and quantitative analysis, with the ability to translate data-driven insights into trading strategies.
  • Programming & Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Python, Julia or C#; experience with trading algorithms, optimization models, data pipelines or automation. SQL, Git and cloud technologies are advantageous.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong mathematical and analytical mindset, structured problem-solving approach and ability to perform effectively under time pressure.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across Trading, IT, Asset Management and Operations and explain complex concepts clearly in English.\
