METKA ΑΤΕ, as a subsidiary of METLEN, has long-term experience in the infrastructure sector, holding a seventh class contractor’s certificate and now specializes in construction activities, undertaking infrastructure projects such as road construction, certified buildings, railway, marine projects, etc., as well as solid and liquid waste management projects.
We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance General Division in Athens. By joining this role, you will stay up-to-date and compliant with accounting, tax, and HQs rules, policies, and requirements of the legal entities.
Your role will encompass:
- Preparing withholding tax and VAT returns, ensuring timely and accurate submission in compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Managing the submission of contracts to the Greek Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).
- Performing bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of cash balances and transactions.
- Preparing and posting accounting journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Performing General Ledger account reconciliations to ensure account balances accurately reflect recorded transactions.
- Supporting the payment process, including generating payment proposals from the ERP system and executing payments through e-banking platforms, as required.
- Performing reconciliations of customer and supplier accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies where required.
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or another appropriate academic major.
- 3-5 years of working experience in accounting department, Finance or Bank environment.
- Good knowledge of Accounting and the General Chart of Accounts/IFRS.
- Knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
- Knowledge of SAP (or other ERP systems) will be considered as an asset.
