Job Description: 

 

We are currently looking for a Head of EPC to join our Renewables, Storage & Energy Transition  division based in Madrid, Spain, leading our EPC activities across the Iberian region. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution and delivery of Metlen’s solar and BESS pipeline and leading the EPC team within the country. 

 

Your Role Will Encompass: 

  • Lead the organization and execution of competitive RFP processes to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and appoint EPC contractors for the execution of the project portfolio in the region 
  • Lead the country’s EPC team to execute projects from concept to commissioning, while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders for successful project delivery and customer satisfaction 
  • Negotiate EPC contracts and manage EPC contractors, ensuring strict compliance with laws, regulations, industry standards, and company policies to keep projects on time and on budget 
  • Recruit, train, and develop a highly skilled EPC team while collaborating with other EPC heads and cross-functional teams to share best practices and drive continuous improvement 
  • Identify and manage risks to project delivery, including safety, quality, and environmental impacts, while driving innovation and process improvement within EPC operations 
  • Responsible for liaising with Development team to provide EPC-related inputs for project valuations 
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, local communities, and potential EPC clients to support EPC and project development strategy 
  • Represent the company in industry events and forums to actively promote and enhance the company's reputation within the country

 

What You Bring to the Role: 

  • Qualification in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering (MSc, MEng, BSc, BEng) or equivalent 

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally in Spain

  • Proven expertise in negotiating and managing EPC contracts for utility-scale solar projects, including deep understanding of negotiations 

  • Exceptional ability to navigate and collaborate in a matrix organization, with regional and senior management, developers, project lenders, and other internal and external stakeholders 

  • Capability to interface efficiently with operational teams at all levels in a technical environment 

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken) 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering, construction, commissioning processes, and interconnection/grid operator requirements 

  • Proficiency in project cost analysis and budget management 

  • Strong analytical skills for effective decision-making
