A Project Controller is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing project or operational costs to ensure that expenditures remain within approved budgets. The role involves preparing cost reports, forecasting expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting financial planning to improve profitability and financial efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control project or operational costs against approved budgets.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Track expenses and analyze deviations between actual costs and planned budgets.
- Work closely with project managers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure cost efficiency.
- Review purchase orders, invoices, and contracts to ensure proper cost allocation.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial plans.
- Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain cost control systems and financial documentation.
- Support financial audits by providing relevant cost data and reports.
- Analyze historical data to improve future cost estimates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience in cost control, budgeting, or financial analysis (typically 2–5 years).
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and cost management techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
