Job Description: 

 

We are currently looking for an ESG Manager to join our team and play a key role in driving and implementing the Group’s Sustainable Development strategy in Athens, Greece. 

In this strategic and cross-functional role, you will be responsible for monitoring and enhancing the Group’s ESG performance, leading engagement with ESG rating agencies, and ensuring alignment with evolving ESG standards and regulatory requirements. You will also coordinate ESG initiatives across business units and contribute to strengthening the Group’s sustainability positioning externally. 

 

Your role will encompass: 

  • Team Leadership & Development: 
    Lead and develop the ESG team (including two direct reports), setting clear objectives and priorities while fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment. Oversee workload planning and ensure timely delivery of ESG initiatives while supporting the continuous development of team capabilities. 

  • ESG Trends & Benchmarking: 
    Monitor global ESG trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices. Conduct benchmarking analysis against peers and industry leaders to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities. Provide insights and recommendations on emerging ESG risks and opportunities impacting the Group. 

  • ESG Performance Monitoring & Reporting: 
    Oversee the monitoring of ESG performance and prepare regular progress reports on ESG ratings and key metrics. Conduct SWOT analyses across major ESG assessments and develop action plans to maintain or improve performance. Support and coordinate key ESG initiatives, including climate-related disclosures (e.g. TCFD), Scope 3 emissions calculation, and tracking of climate targets. Contribute to the preparation of the Group’s Sustainability Statement and other ESG disclosures. 

  • ESG Ratings & External Engagement: 
    Lead the Group’s engagement with ESG rating agencies and sustainability indices. Monitor rating methodologies and assess their implications for ESG performance and disclosures. Coordinate the preparation and submission of ESG questionnaires and supporting documentation, while identifying opportunities for participation in additional ratings and indices. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: 
    Collaborate closely with Sustainability teams across Business Units, subsidiaries, and central functions, providing guidance and expertise on ESG-related matters and ensuring alignment across the organization. 

  • ESG Data Management & Digital Platforms: 
    Oversee the effective operation and continuous improvement of the ESG data collection platform. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment across the Group by coordinating with internal stakeholders. Support the enhancement of systems and processes to meet evolving reporting requirements. 

  • Corporate Governance & Investor Engagement: 
    Support ESG-related discussions within corporate governance bodies (e.g. Sustainability Committee) and participate in investor meetings and roadshows when required. 

 

What you bring to the role: 

  • Academic Background: 
    Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field. A postgraduate degree (MBA or Master’s in Sustainability or Environmental Management) is highly desirable. 

  • Professional Experience: 
    5+ years of experience in Sustainability/ESG roles, with exposure to ESG reporting, ratings, and data management. 

  • ESG Knowledge & Technical Expertise: 
    Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and standards (e.g. GRI, SASB, TCFD). Familiarity with ESG rating platforms (e.g. MSCI, Sustainalytics, CDP, Refinitiv FTSE) is considered an asset. 

  • Data & Analytical Skills: 
    Ability to manage, analyze, and synthesize ESG data into meaningful insights and reports. 

  • Sustainability & Climate Expertise: 
    Understanding of climate risk, decarbonization strategies, and carbon management approaches aligned with net-zero objectives. 

  • Collaboration & Communication Skills: 
    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functions, influence stakeholders, and communicate ESG topics effectively to both internal and external audiences.
