We are currently looking for a Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning activities for the EGL1 project, supporting the Power Technologies department of the Thermal Power Plants & HVDC division of Metlen, based in Murton, UK.
What your role will encompass:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities, ensuring technical integrity and compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Evaluate, assess, and resolve technical commissioning issues arising during project execution.
- Coordinate and manage commissioning personnel, including both internal teams and external subcontractors.
- Support the selection, negotiation, and management of commissioning specialists and subcontractors required during the commissioning phase.
- Liaise closely with the client to ensure all commissioning-related contractual and technical requirements are met.
- Develop and review commissioning procedures, work method statements, risk assessments, and commissioning schedules.
- Identify and implement solutions to equipment malfunctions, performance issues, or project challenges that may impact schedule and commissioning milestones.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to commissioning personnel and project stakeholders.
- Promote the Company’s Code of Conduct, safety culture, and ethical standards across the commissioning team.
- Support the development and performance management of commissioning personnel.
- Contribute to the development of internal standards, procedures, and best practices for commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and specialist service providers to support successful project delivery.
- Monitor and report commissioning progress to project and departmental management.
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in managerial commissioning roles within the energy, power generation, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in EPC projects, preferably within thermal power generation, CCGT, energy infrastructure, HV systems, or large industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning methodologies, testing procedures, and start-up activities.
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary commissioning teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience developing commissioning plans, procedures, and project execution strategies.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in MS Office and project reporting tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a demanding site-based environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and project delivery.
