This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in establishing best-in-class cost control practices across a high-volume portfolio of Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
This position will report into the Project Controls / Commercial function and will work closely with Project Managers, Procurement, and Finance teams to ensure robust cost management, forecasting, and financial governance across the portfolio.
Your Role Will Encompass:
- Track, record, and control project costs across multiple Solar and BESS projects, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and cost baselines.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, including budget updates, cost-to-complete (CTC) forecasts, and cash-flow projections, in line with internal reporting cycles.
- Work closely with Project Managers to capture cost movements, variations, commitments, and accruals, ensuring forecasts reflect current project status and risks.
- Support the development and maintenance of project cost breakdown structures (CBS) and ensure consistent cost coding across the portfolio.
- Monitor commitments, purchase orders, invoices, and subcontractor payments, working with procurement and finance teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Identify cost variances, trends, and potential overruns, and proactively highlight risks and mitigation actions.
- Support month-end and period-end reporting, including earned value inputs where applicable, and ensure data integrity across project control systems.
- Assist with cash-flow management by tracking actuals versus forecast and supporting short-term and long-term cash planning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control processes, tools, and reporting standards across the UK & Ireland portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and company financial governance procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in cost control, project controls, or commercial management
- Strong understanding of project cost management, forecasting, and financial reporting principles.
- Experience working on Solar, BESS, or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project controls or ERP systems is a plus.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
