We are currently looking for a Construction Senior Manager to join our UK team, within the Thermal Power & HVDC Division of Metlen Energy & Metals. This is a UK‑wide search, and we welcome applications from suitable candidates based across the country.
Metlen Energy & Metals is seeking a Construction Senior Manager to support the delivery of HVDC projects within the Thermal Power & HVDC Division.
The role will be responsible for the overall construction execution of HVDC projects, ensuring delivery in line with project objectives, contractual requirements, safety standards, quality expectations, budget, and schedule.
Your Role Will Encompass:
- Lead the overall construction execution of HVDC projects from initiation through to completion.
- Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and high‑voltage systems.
- Establish and maintain robust project governance, including oversight of contracts, technical documentation, change management, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide structured reporting to senior stakeholders on project progress, key risks, cost performance, and mitigation actions.
- Act as the primary interface with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
- Implement and enforce Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and quality management systems in line with HVDC and high‑voltage construction standards.
- Lead site leadership teams, ensuring appropriate supervision, resource allocation, and performance management.
- Conduct high‑level reviews, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
- Proactively identify project risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies to safeguard delivery and optimise performance.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of 12 years’ professional experience in EPC project environments, preferably within the energy sector and HV or HVDC projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A Master’s degree will be considered an asset.
- Experience in HVDC projects, converter stations, or equivalent high‑voltage infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, contract management (including FIDIC), cost control, and construction methodologies.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with project planning tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) will be considered an asset.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments.
- Availability to work on site and willingness to travel in line with project requirements.
