Job Description: 

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Intern to join our team. 

Location: Hybrid – office and site

Contract Type: Part time, fixed term

Reporting to the Design Manager you will work closely with the design team, project engineers, and broader EPC team to assist in the delivery of Metlen’s large scale solar farm projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Engineering & Project Support

  • Assist Design team with general engineering and project support activities.
  • Support the preparation, review, and organisation of engineering documentation, drawings, and technical records.
  • Assist with data collection, basic analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintain project records, registers, and documentation under guidance.

 

Site & Operational Exposure

  • Participate in site visits and inspections (where applicable).
  • Observe construction and operational activities to gain practical understanding of engineering applications.
  • Assist with monitoring works to ensure alignment with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

 

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with engineers, supervisors, and other team members as required.
  • Attend meetings, toolbox talks, and briefings when appropriate.
  • Support coordination activities across engineering and project teams.

 

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in safety inductions and training.
  • Promote safe work practices and report hazards or incidents.

  • Actively develop technical and professional engineering skills.
  • Learn engineering processes, systems, and project delivery methods.
  • Undertake other reasonable tasks to support project delivery and learning outcomes.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be/have:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and construction processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (training provided).
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).
